Dear Santa!

Dear Santa,
I have been a particularly good girl this year (again). I've been trying my best to make beautiful, original jewelry. I'm getting positive feedbacks from my beloved customers. I never stop learning, experimenting, trying out new techniques. For that, I would really need a Dremel kit with diamond drill bits - so I could take my jewelry making to the next level. I 'm attaching a picture for your consideration. This kit would be perfect - I hope that you can manage to get me one.
(Since I'm a girl I would like to get some more girly stuff too (perfume for example) and of course books - I would really like to get books too....... Should I list them here or should I send you a separate letter?)
love and thank you,
judit

shopping.....for me:)

I did some holiday shopping today - these are for me:) Aren't they cute?:)

Mivel jovo heten utazom, el kellett kezdenem a karacsonyi vasarlast - .....es megleptem magam ezzel a bogre-keszlettel:))  Szeretem a kavesbogreket (is), na! :)

Simple Festive

As I was browsing through the new issue of Better Homes and Garden I wished that we had a more peaceful time to get into the Holiday mood. I would decorate our house slowly, bake Xmas cookies for every friend, drink spiced wine just for the spirit..:) But our Advent is not like that... because we live far away, and because of our jobs, schools and other obligations we usually arrive HOME (Hungary) just before Christmas Eve... But I'm thankful for that - we can be with our parents, relatives and friends. This is more important than the perfect decoration and perfect food. This year will be a little different: I will be home a bit earlier – although it is not for pleasure either; I have to take my Mom to physical therapy - but let’s hope for the best.... Because I will be home 2 weeks before Christmas I can decorate our house .... Fortunately we don't need a lot...:) I like modest decorations, I'm not into trends (all white tree one year, blue tree the next year etc:) so it will be easy. I still think that our most beautiful tree was our first little tree after we had got married... Just red real apples and handmade honey cookies... It was so simple and cute:) Anyways, I would like to share few ideas what I've found in the magazine - you might like some of them, too.

Ahogy lapozgattam a Better Homes and Garden magazint, arra gondoltam milyen jo lenne, ha tobb nyugodt idonk lenne a karacsonyi keszuletekre, rahangolodasra.

Misty morning at the beach

It was raining today!:) I grabbed my camera and took a short trip to the ocean - there is no better place to escape from the Holiday Rush than a rainy beach!:) It is empty, quiet...The soft grayish blue and sand color-scheme is so smoothing..... Love it! Few shots from my today escape, before the craziness started:):
Have a great week everyone!

Ma reggel esore ebredtunk - hivott az ocean:) Regebbi posztokbol mar kiderult, szeretem az esos, kodos, paras ocean-parti reggeleket (nappalokat, esteket) Nincs is jobb hely elmenekulni a mindennapi  porgesekbol ,mint egy ures, esos strand...:) Csendes fatyolkekek szurkes anyalatai a homok szineivel, a raeros siralyok..... kibogozodnak az idegszalak....Nehany foto errol a reggeli nyugalomrol:)

Winter Jewelry

Let's forget the plumbing supply for awhile:) As the Holiday is approaching I'm more into something pure, soft.... I like the great expectations of the holidays - but what I see around me is just too much for me... It is more about material things, shopping, more stress than joy... Somehow I crave less pressure, less color, less pushiness... That is why my otherwise colorful jewelry in this season is mostly white, or silver, or gold... Simple shapes with a touch of sparkle.....I still like the traditional green-red color combination, (I'll make few fused glass pendants with these colors) but my mood today is much more puritan.:) Here are few polymer clay pieces I made yesterday... with my motto - which is true even during the holiday season..."keep it simple"....:)

Kozeledik a Karacsony - felejtsuk el kis idore a szakipari alapanyagokat, acel tomitogyuruket, most valami romantikusabbra hangolodunk:)
Ahogy szinesedik korulottem minden, az en  (egyebkent szines) ekszereim ugy mennek at feherbe:).... keves arany, bronz, ezust..... Szeretem a hagyomanyos piros-zold szinkombinaciot is, keszul majd nehany uveg ekszer ezekkel a szinekkel, de most sokkal puritanab hangulatban vagyok - ezek az ekszerek tegnap keszultek.:)  Tel, karacsony, kicsi csillogas - de meg mindig a "Keep It Simple" mottoval:)

And back to glass

And now back to the glass – I have made some new pieces such as this ring for example. It is not a small piece – I like them such – but then one should not wear any other jewelry (IMO)…I'd wear it with an all black outfit (which is not too unusual for me:)

Casual Holiday

Something for the Holiday Season.

Something diverse, simple, just a dash of shine. No snowman or reindeer here:)
Imaginative, one of a kind. To create this unique necklace I layered brown, red, blue transparent glass and just the right touch of iridescent glass on clear glass base and full fused them together. After fusing I shaped it on diamond grinder and fire polished it in my kiln.

The Gamble House

We took a one hour guided tour in The Gamble House yesterday. Here is the short history of the house:

The Gamble House was designed in 1908 by architects Greene & Greene. It was commissioned by David and Mary Gamble, of Cincinnati, Ohio, as a retirement residence.
David Berry Gamble, a second generation member of the Procter and Gamble Company in Cincinnati, had retired from active work in 1895, and with his wife, Mary Huggins Gamble, began to spend winters in Pasadena, residing in the area’s resort hotels. By 1907, the couple had decided to build a permanent home in Pasadena. In June of that year, they bought a lot on the short, private street, Westmoreland Place, passing up the more fashionable address, South Orange Grove, known at that time as “Millionaires’ Row.”
The architects worked closely with the Gambles in the design of the house, incorporating specific design elements to complement art pieces belonging to the family. Drawings for the house were completed in February 1908, and ground was broken in March. Ten months later, the house was completed, the first pieces of custom furniture were delivered, and The Gamble House became home to David Gamble, his wife Mary, and two of their three sons: Sidney and Clarence. (Their son Cecil was 24 at the time, and on his own.) In addition, Mary’s sister, Julia Huggins, came from Ohio to live with the family. By the summer of 1910, all the custom-designed furniture was in place.
David and Mary lived in the house until their deaths in 1923 and 1929, respectively. Julia lived in the house until her death in 1943. Cecil Huggins Gamble and his wife Louise Gibbs Gamble lived in the house beginning in 1946 and briefly considered selling it. They soon changed their minds, however, when prospective buyers spoke of painting the interior teak and mahogany woodwork white! The Gambles realized the artistic importance of the house and it remained in the Gamble family until 1966, when it was deeded to the city of Pasadena in a joint agreement with the University of Southern California School of Architecture

I always knew that the American Arts and Crafts style is not my favorite. This house just made my conviction even stronger. It was cold and very-very dark. Lamps, scones, light are on in every room all day. Everything dark and heavy. They must have killed a small forest for the built-in furniture.

They used this house to escape from the East Coast rigid winter. Why didn't they let the California sun into their house??:) They made this house intentionally dark. OK, we are different - we have different approaches.....:) But I DO like the Arts and Craft style ceramics. Clean lines, gorgeous motifs, beautiful colors.

The docent had to use flash light to show them to us.. at 11AM - you can imagine how dark the house was.....:) And outside it was a bright and sunny day. Anyways, it was fun to see it and learn about its architecture and the era.

Tegnap Pasadena-n jartunk a Gamble Haz-ban. A haz 1908-ban epult es az amerikai Arts And Craft stilusnak egy impozans peldaja. Eredetileg a Gamble csalad epitette, hogy a zord tel elol Kaliforniaba menekuljenek a keleti partrol. A haz epiteszei a hires  testverparos Charles and Henry Greene volt.

A kor keramiai viszont tetszenek, a sima formaival, gyonyoru szineivel, geometrikus motivumaival.....
