A year ago I wrote about Portland, Maine. This time we spent our anniversary in Portland, Oregon:) The distance between the two cities is 3,191 mi (5135 km). ( It is funny and sometimes confusing here in the US that several cities have the same name but it is a topic for another post)
In this Portland we got lots of rain - we cannot complain though - this just the way there.:)It is raining, just stopped raining, almost raining, before rain/ after rain....- I think locals have a big wardrobe full with raincoats in different styles - it is a rainy culture here!:) I DO love rain, but 8-9 rainy months a year maybe a little too much even for me!:) Anyways, rain can't stop people here. It did not stop us either from exploring the city as much as it was possible in few days. Portland has been referred to as one of the most environmentally friendly or "green" cities in the world. We really enjoyed a light-rail which is free and was made in the Czech Republic! We almost felt at home !:)
In this city sometimes I felt in Europe, sometimes in San Francisco, New York... or many areas reminded me San Diego too... Because of the large amounts of rain everything is amazingly green, flowers are blooming like crazy... I like the city 's free spirit, the artsy, crafty, friendly neighborhoods, and that it is the home of Bullseye Glass... etc.... Oh, and the food cars!!!:) They are in every parking lot offering ethnic foods - a great alternative to the commercial fast food... So cool!:)
This is another great city - I feel blessed to have a chance to visit it - even for few days. Few days to remember. If you are interested I'd like to share a few pictures here.

Egy evvel ezelott irtam Portland, Main-i kirandulasunkrol. Az iden is Portlandban unnepeltuk a hazassagi evfordulonkat, de ezuttal Portland, Oregonban. A ket varos kozott kb 5100km a tavolsag.
( Az kulon tema, hogy az USA-ban tobb varost hivnak ugyanugy,ami idonkent bonyodalmakhoz is vezet...:)
Ez a Portland nagyon esos - nem volt ez most sem maskepp. Hol epp rakezdte, hol elallt az eso, hol keszuloben ,hol nyakunba zudult - de egyfolytaban valamilyen formaban jelen volt! A helyieknek szerintem esokabatbol van a legtobb a ruhatarukban, kulonbozo alkalmakra varialva!:)
A rengeteg csapadek kovetkezteben persze minden csupa zold, virag zuhatagok mindenfele...Nem hiszem, hogy sokat kellene locsolni....
A varos amugy is az egyik leg"zoldebb" varos vilag viszonylatban is. Nagyon figyelnek a kornyezetvedelemre - egyik peldaja a varosi villamosok, ami ingyenes, kenyelmes, tiszta es cseh gyartmany!:) Orommel villamosoztunk, kicsit mintha otthon lennenk!:) ( Szegeden is jo villamosozni!:))
Egy nagyon helyes-kedves varos ez, sok szabad szellemu emberrel, muvesznegyedekkel, keptarakkal, kavezokkal, antik boltokkal, piacokkal....es itt a Bullseye Glass otthona is!:)
Jaa, es a sok Uvegtigris!!!:) Minden parkolo tele ezekkel a "bufe kocsikkal" , mintha a vilag minden Uvegtigrise kivonult volna - lattunk ormeny, mexikoi, kinai, koreai, gorog, thai, stb arusokat, akik uj ertelmezest adnak a "gyors-eteleknek". Mennyivel jobb ez, mint a Meki!!! :)
Jo lesz erre a varosra is visszaemlekezni, orulok, hogy lathattam!:) Akiket erdekel, nehany kep itt.
