Tegnap este unnepeltunk!:) Dora lanyunk nevnapjat - mivel egesz nyaron szanaszejjel volt a csalad igy azt is, hogy ujra egyutt. S ha mar unnep, legyen unnep -igy elmentunk Carlos Santana ettermebe a Maria Maria-ba.



San Diego-ban nincs hiany mexikoi ettermekbol, van koztuk sok jo, authentikus is,de ez a MariaMaria - hat ez nagyon tetszett!:) Nem a megszokott, agyonragozott taco-k es burrito-k babbal,rizzsel, hanem a mexikoi konyha egy kifinomultabb valtozata.
Rafinalt fuszerezes, friss izek.....a coconout ceviche maga egy csoda!:)

Az etterem dizanja is nagyon izleses,semmi nepischkedes, hanem mexikoi kortars muveszek alkotasai a dekoracio. Kozuluk talan a legismertebb Michael V. Rios, aki sok lemezboritot is tervezett Santananak.

Egyetlen, ami kicsit zavart az etteremben, hogy bar allitolag legtobbszor elo latin zene szol, most sajnos csak kommersz popzene dolt a hangszorokbol. Jobban orultunk volna Santana zenejenek,megha nem is eloben :)(Facebook-on lattam viszont, hogy szept.21 en Santana uj lemezbemutatoja lesz az etteremben....ugyhogy lehet visszatero vendegek leszunk!:))

We celebrated last night!:) It was our daughter’s – Dorina – name-day and since the family was scattered over two continents through the Summer we also celebrated being together again. And since it was a celebration we decided to go to Carlos Santana’s restaurant – Maria Maria.
There are scores of Mexican restaurants in San Diego and many of them is very good and authentic but this Maria Maria – was really great!:) It is not your twelve-a-dozen Mexican place with the plain tacos and burritos with beans and rice but a much more refined Mexican cuisine. Very refined spices, fresh flavors… the coconut ceviche was wonderful!:)
The design of the restaurant was very tasteful, not your run-of-the-mill Mexican décor; contemporary Mexican artists’ pieces everywhere. The most well-known is Michael V. Rios who designed many album sleeves for Santana whose works can be seen here. The only thing I did not like that although most of the time live Latin music is performed last night only commercial pop music from the can could be heard in the background. I would have much preferred Santana’s music… On the Facebook I just saw that a CD release party will be held to introduce Santana’s new album on September 21st … so perhaps we will be regulars!:)
