I hope you all had a lovely weekend. On Sunday, I was useless - zero energy to do anything... Not a perfect timing to do nothing when you have to prepare for a craft show... But I think with one more fusing procedure I'll be ready! Here is my old-new "Berries" collection... as a fun and cheerful end-of-the-winter accessory.

Uj talka az uj technikammal.:) Fekete uvegre, rozsdavoros uvegfestekkel festettem ezeket a "buborekokat" - majd turelmetlenul vartam a kiserlet eredmenyet ( kb 18 orat), de ugy tunik mukodik a modszer - ugyhogy uj talak (ekszerek?) jonnek meg hasonlo mintakkal-cifrakkal!:)

It's a new day, new idea, new jewelry on Etsy!:) I've been working on
this one for several days - fusing, grinding, texturizing, kiln
work-cold work... but I like the final look! :) Do you? Be honest:)

Uj het, uj nap, uj otlet, uj ekszer az Etsyn. :) Jonehany napig dolgoztam ezen, egettem, csiszoltam, furtam, faragtam - de szerintem jo lett. Szerinted? (oszinten!) :)

Mingei International Museum

Finally I've got to see these exhibitions in Mingei International Museum. Four equally interesting shows in the same time:

Started with San Diego's Craft Revolution. Absolutely fabulous collection of designs from San Diego area from post war to 70's. Jewelry, pottery, furniture... The show represents wonderfully the new meaning of "Craft".

And three exhibitions on the second floor:
A FANTASTIC VOYAGE
THE ART OF YNEZ JOHNSTON.....
Ancient symbols,mythology,....some painting reminded me even of cave paintings

In the next corner is:
NEW JEWELRY IN A NEW MEDIUM
The Art of Polymer Clay...
Fantastic, detailed jewelry... just fascinating what can be done with polymer clay...

And my beloved Finnish Design!:) Northern Stars
No doubt I like their textiles, furniture, glass art, ceramics, Alvar Aalto,Timo Sarpaneva, Marimekko, Fiskars, etc... but what I most admire is their philosophy, they approach, the way they see "design" as the art of everyday life, for everyday people, not as a luxury for the elites and privileged.

Mingei - as always - did an exceptional job presenting these outstanding artists. Without using big words, but after visiting Mingei you always become a little better person. And we know - every little thing counts!:)

Vegre eljutottam a Mingei Museumba, ahol egyidoben 4 izgalmas kiallitas van.
A legnagyobb gyujtemenyes kiallitas 40 -es evektol a 70-es evekig mutatja be San Diego-i muveszek munkait....- ez a kiallitas is ujraertelmezi a "craft" es "art" fogalmat, illetve, hogy nem valaszthatjuk mereven kulon oket.

A kovetkezo kiallitas a 91 evesen is alkoto Ynez Johnston festmenyei, szobrai...Engem leginkabb osi barlangrajzokra emlekeztettek. Modern mitologia....

A harmadik resz a Polymer Clay ekszereke. Minden csodalatom es tiszteletem az agyaggal dolgozo muveszeknek, bamulatos reszleteket tudnak "kigyurmazni" ! :) Vegtelen lehetosegeket rejt ez az anyag!

Es vegul a Finn Design kiallitas....!! Butorok, ekszerek, formatervezes,design nagyjai: Alvar Aalto, Timo Sarpaneva, Marimekko, Fiskars..stb. Termeszetesen csodalatosak es nagyon szeretem oket - de nekem leginkabb a finn stilusban a filozofiajuk tetszik, ahogy mindennapiva es elerhetove teszik , hogy mindannyian szep, igenyes, muveszi szinvonalu targyakkal vehessuk korul magunkat , hogy mindez ne csak egy elitista luxus legyen.
Kerulven a nagy szavakat, de Mingei most is, - mint mindig olyan kiallitast csinalt, ahonnan egy kicsit jobb emberkent tavozik a latogato. S tudjuk, minden kicsi szamit....:)

Art Deco and Sushi

My new piece from the Fused Glass Sushi/Serving Plate Series.

Contemporary, Art Deco-inspired, original plate - not just for sushi but a perfect serving plate for cheese and crackers, hors d’oeuvre, appetizer, fruits, etc.:)

Kovetkezo darab a Sushi Talak sorozatbol. Ezuttal kis art-deco beutessel....Az also atlatszo kozepbarna uveg itt-ott "atvilagit" a felso reteg turkiz mintai kozott - ettol kicsit mindig mas a tal szine, fenytol fuggoen.

Japan meets Scandinavia

Just out of the kiln. A new serving plate to show before it goes to the store. I'm a big fan of the Finnish - Scandinavian design so I've been working on my own version. A new collection is on its way - which was inspired by the Scandinavian style: contemporary, simple, pure and affordable. This is the first piece: Japan meets Scandinavia - a sushi plate with Scandinavian flair:) I used turquoise glass and applied the design with black glass paint. The top glass is clear. I'm not sticking to the traditional Finnish minimalist, earth-toned colors - my intention is not to copy them... just to play with the idea, being inspired by the style. And it is fun! :)

Egyenesen a kemencebol - es nem bukta:) Nagyon szeretem a skandinav dizajnt, s most a sajat verziomon dolgozom. Itt Japan talalkozik Skandinaviaval - sushi tal, finn inspiracio.:) Nem ragaszkodom a tradicionalis skandinav szinekhez sem - ezen turkiz az uveg, fekete a minta.
